Safe Kids Kingsland

What is Safe Kids Kingsland?
A grass-roots coalition of Safe Kids Georgia and Safe Kids USA, Safe Kids Kingsland will work with hospitals, civic groups, businesses, schools, and citizens to develop and institute programs dedicated to reducing the incidence of unintentional childhood injury in children ages 0-14.
The Kingsland Fire Rescue and other organizations are partnering together to start this coalition and keep our community’s kids safe!

What are some of the programs that will be offered?
Safe Kids Kingsland will focus on preventing unintentional injuries due to accidents such as motor vehicle crashes, fires, drowning, poisoning, & falls. Some examples of future programs include:
  • Walk This Way: A program created to teach safe behaviors to motorists and child pedestrians and create safer, more walk able communities and prevent pedestrian-related injuries to children.
  • Countdown2Drive:  A web-based program for pre-teen drivers and their parents focusing on teen passenger safety & teaching young teens how to stay safe in a car.
  • Start Safe:  A fire-safety program for teaching children ages 3-6 and their families how to prevent burn injuries.
  • Water Safety Project:  In conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, teaching parents and children water safety and ways to prevent accidental drowning.
  • Sports Safety Program:  This program will focus on preventing sports injuries, dehydration, & heat illnesses in children.
  • Child Passenger Safety Events:  Providing safety education to caregivers and parents, promoting correct child restraint use, and increasing awareness about the benefits of child restraints.
  • And many more, based on the needs of children in Camden County.
