Yes, your animal has to be restraint by a leash or secured to your property.

2. Does that include cats?

No, however cats fall into the nuisance category and will be trapped if complaint upon.

3. Is there a law regarding dog feces on public and private property?

Yes, a feces on public and private property has to be removed.

4. Do I have to get a license for my dog/cat for the City of Kingsland?

Not at this point, the only required tag is a current rabies vaccination tag to be affixed to the animal by a collar. All animals over the age of 3 month have to have a rabies shot that has been administered by a licensed Veterinarian.

I urge pet owners to have there animals micro chipped and verify that the information is current as well as to include a daytime cell phone or work number where you can be reached in case your animal gets loose.

5. Is there a breed restriction in the State of Georgia?

Not at this point

6. Can I keep local wildlife as a pet?

NO; the Department of Natural Resources has strict guidelines when it comes to our Wildlife, please contact DNR or Animal Control with any questions.

7. What about barking dogs!

Excessive barking of an animal falls into the nuisance category and has to be documented by the complainant, the time of day when the animal is barking is not an issue since some people work at night and have to sleep during the day

8. Do you trap and remove wildlife?

Animal Control will only trap and remove Wildlife if they are a danger to a person or property or if they are sick or injured. For all others please contact DNR or a Pest removal Service.

9. My neighbor is mistreating his animal, should I call Animal Control?

Defiantly, any call regarding a welfare concern or any other complaint will be handled as a anonymous call. Which means I will not disclose where my information comes from but I do need to be able to speak to you to get all the information I need to find the animal and to hear what your concern is regarding the animal. So please leave your name and phone number with my dispatcher.

10. Is there a limit of how many animals I can own in the City of Kingsland?

Animals may be kept in the residential districts subject to the district regulations and the following conditions:

107.1. The minimum lot area upon which a horse or pony may be kept in a R-1, R-2 and R-6 district is three (3) acres for the first horse or pony and one-half (½) acre for each additional horse or pony.

107.2. The minimum lot area upon which fowl may be kept is one-half (½) acre. The maximum number of fowl that may be kept for one-half (½) acre is two (2). For each additional one-half (½) acre an additional two (2) fowl may be kept. Fowl may not be allowed to range freely.

107.3. A maximum number of eight (8) dogs or cats in any combination may be kept in a residential district if the lot is larger than one-half (½) acre. Otherwise only four (4) dogs or cats in any combination may be kept.

11. My dog is not going in his dog house, do I have to have it out there for him anyway?

Yes, you are required to provide shelter for your animal anytime he/she is outside. You also need to provide a water source that lasts the animal all day while outside. Shade is important in the South since the temperatures get very high.

All residences are required to have a personal shut off on their property. If not, contact your local plumber to facilitate installing one. Should emergency assistance be necessary, residents may contact The City of Kingsland on-call service at (912) 729-8236.

Cash, check, money order, Visa/Master Cards, automatic reoccurring checking draft, automatic reoccurring credit card draft.

4. When is my deposit refunded back to me?

One billing cycle after you request services to be discontinued. Account must be paid in full to receive full refund.

5. When are water/sewer/garbage bills due?

Normally utility bills are due on the 20th of each month.

6. Is there a charge to have my water service manipulated after normal working hours?

Yes, there will be a 25 dollar charge to have your water turned on or shut off after the normal working hours. This fee can be circumvented if a shut off valve is installed between the city water meter and the home IAW the City Ordnance. Not in all cases. Read closely the back of your citation to determine if you have to appear. You have a right to appear in court. In some cases, you can pay for the violation without appearing.
